No rain in the forecast until next Friday.  Until then, it looks like lots of warm, 90s, days.  Pretty sultry out there in the afternoon.

Also, we have had several folks come into the shop to pick up supplies and were quite surprises when we told them the generators were either off or running low.  They have been calling the real-time generation number, 417-336-5083 and hearing that four units are running at 9000 plus cfs.  This number has been incorrect for almost three weeks.  We have contacted several people regarding the problem.  Hopefully it will soon be corrected.  In the meantime, check the real-time charts on the website or give us a call.

We had a couple mornings, Thursday and Friday when the generators were off.  Yesterday, today and, (according to the projection) tomorrow, generation will be somewhere around 35 mwh.  Looking at the actual generation for today, it had been 40-some mwh as well as in the 30s.  This puts the tail water at a 704.9 to 704.2 level which is wadeable in some areas.  Not certain why we are seeing this low generation as all the lakes are still above power pool.  In any event, we are not complaining.

Fishing with no generation on Thursday and Friday was awesome.  Fishing yesterday with the low generation was awesome, and according to fishers coming into the shop to get flies, it is awesome again today.  Stan was on the water Friday with Dan and Shayle.  First time catching trout on a fly rod for Shayla.  They had a great day on the lightning bug and P&P.

Saturday, we had one generator at low flow.  We have not seen this level for a while so we were a bit apprehensive about what the day would bring.  Tori and Jeremy from the St. Louis area spent their first day fly fishing with Stan.  Good day for these two, especially after getting through all the “ins and outs’ of fly fishing on the lightning bug and big ruby.  Benjie spent half a day with Dana.  He had not fished here for a while, but after yesterday, he will probably be fly fishing here a little more.  Good day for him on the ruby 2.  Carolyn had a couple from Kansas, “Mo” and Ralph, on the water for half a day.  Mo is new to fly fishing so we got her started with the roll cast and mending.  Ralph boated the first two fish, but after that he had to work hard to catch a fish before Mo was bringing one into the boat.  What a fun day.  Several doubles, on lightning bug, and also stripping the tiger tail or holographic green crackleback.

Looked at the water projection yesterday afternoon and it showed no generation for today until around 1:00 p.m.  Did not believe it.  Went to the dam this a.m. and guess what…..NO GENERATION!

Not sure why the generators are off, but not complaining.  Not only are the generators off here, but also at Beaver and Norfork.  Bull Shoals is running very low.  We’ll see what tomorrow brings!

Overcast this morning but it looks like it will sunny up around noon.  Tomorrow will see the low 90s and sunshine.  Mid 80s for Saturday and chances for showers show up on Sunday.  Next week looks pretty good.  Low 90s every day and no moisture in the picture until next weekend when it is a possibility on Saturday.  Long way off!

especially on the Tiger Tail.  Caught a nice 19″ rainbow.  Nymphing was not too good, but wooly buggers, the JQ, crackleback or Tiger Tail were the best patterns.

Anxious to see how the trip goes this morning with the water off.  Jim is out with a couple from Florida.  They may have to take some detours in places where the lake has filled in our changed channels.  Every day is a new day on Taneycomo! !

It is RAINING as I write with chances for rain on and off most of the day.  Nice cool down, however, as the high today will probably be mid to upper 70s.  More chances for rain tomorrow afternoon, slight chances Thursday and Friday and a little better chance again on Saturday.

We had low generation, 50 mwh, yesterday morning and again today.  Around noon, they project that it will go to 100 mwh.  With this low of flow (50 mwh), there are some places below the fish ladder that you can wade.  Probably bump it back up to 100 mwh after the holiday and are still running water 24/7.

Dana had Mike, who was a guide in Louisiana, out for half a day.  They had a fun day fishing an ant pattern, swinging an olive soft hackle and stripping the crackleback.  Stan was out with Mike and his son, Anthony.  Both are pretty new to fly fishing so it was a day of refreshing.  Caught fish on the big ruby with the lightning bug dropper and stripping the tiger tail.

A little warm today!  Expect to see upper 80s or low 90s.  Tomorrow, more of the same, but by Friday, we might see rain with temperatures in the mid 80s.  By Sunday, it should clear out.  Temperatures will remain in the upper 80s to low 90s and slight chances for showers are around almost every day.

No changes in the generation schedule.  Pretty much non-stop for a while.

Glad to say, we continue to have good days on the water.  Gina had Derek and his son, Bart on the water yesterday.  Good day for them on the tiger tail, ruby 2 or lightning bug droppers and a chartreuse egg pattern.  Stripping was the best method, but they caught fish nymphing.   Bob, from Indiana, spent the morning with Stan.  They too, did best stripping.  Their pattern was the holographic green crackleback.  Also caught some on the lightning bug and a bright pink egg pattern.

We have had some beautiful days!  Temperatures not too hot so it has just been pleasant.  Today should see the mid 80s and tomorrow and Thursday we are looking at upper 80s to low 90s.  Party is over.  By Friday and Saturday, rain seems to be sneaking back into the picture.  Next week looks hot and humid.

No change in the generation pattern.  Normal power pool for this time of the year is 917 feet.  We are just a little under 922 feet.  It’s going to be a while more before we can hope the generators stop.

Three boat group on the water last Friday. Most of them were new fly fishers.   Dana took Rod and his son, Rodney.  They had a good day on the holographic green crackleback and the lightning bug.  Stan took Jeff and Adam and they were fishing the lightning bug or cerise San Juan under the big ruby.  Carolyn’s guys, Denton and Aaron were catching on the cerise San Juan under the big ruby or stripping the tiger tail.  Everyone had fun and learned a lot.  Bad news of the day was a surprise storm that popped up while we were rowing out.  The wind and the force of the rain were unbelievable!!  We thought we had a tornado ripping up the river.  Glad to say everyone got off the river safely….a little wet, better yet, drenched, but safe.

Saturday, Dana took Todd and Matt, from Texas, out all day.  Good day for these guys on the lightning bug or stripping the crackleback.  Stan out with Cary and his father, Sherrod all day.  They had a fun, good day on the crackleback, an egg pattern and the tiger tail.

Bryce and his father, Randy, spent Sunday morning with Dana.  It was the olive filoplume or crackleback that day.

Absolutely gorgeous day today!  Sun is out, very light wind and it is 76 degrees at noon.  It might make 80!  More nice weather for the rest of the week….70s and 80s.  By the weekend, we see some chances for showers.

No change in water flow.  Still 24/7.  Some mornings it has been 50 mwh so there is a little opportunity for wading up near the Hatchery.  However, it doesn’t last all day.  Some time during the morning they will bump it up to 100 mwh and usually 150 later in the day.  ‘

Still seeing lots of trips.  Last Saturday, James Albert took Jeff, from Oklahoma, out for half a day.  Good day for Jeff on the big ruby with a beadhead Cerise San Juan worm dropper, or stripping the filoflume.  Jeff caught his first fish stripping on this trip.  Fun!   Doug and Dixie spent the morning on the water with Jim.  They are fairly new, so Jim spent time working with them on skills.  They caught their fish on the pink San Juan worm and stripping the tiger tail.  Dana had Martin on the water.  He was catching on the holographic green crackleback, lightning bug and orange egg pattern.  Not only did he catch trout, but he also caught a couple blue gills!  Gary and Jerry spent the day on the water with Stan.  Good day for these guys on the big ruby with a lightning bug dropper or stripping the crackleback.

Sunday, Jeff and Brett fished late in the morning with Stan.  We had some unexpected rain show up that morning, so they waited until around noon before going out.  First time fly fishers, but they both brought in fish on the Big ruby with a ruby 2 dropper.

Rain the past two mornings, but it looks like this might be over for the next several days.  Kind of a pleasant change as the last week was a pretty warm week!.  Monday will be mid 80s and then we start to steam again with temperatures in the low 90s until the weekend.

No major change in generation.  Still running 24/7.  However, they have been running it a little lower (50 mwh) in the morning, then jumping up to 100 mwh around 9:00 or 10:00 a.m.  I am pretty sure we will continue to see some type of flow all day for several more days.

Lots of fishing last week.  Carolyn started out the week with Andrew from the St. Louis area.  Good day for him on the ruby 2 under the big ruby or stripping the holographic green crackleback.   Tom, from New Haven, spent half a day with Stan.  They did well on the big ruby with a lightning bug dropper.  He really enjoyed pulling the crackleback on the sinking leader.

Tuesday, Knox and Gabrielle, who were out with Carolyn, hit everything right.  Most fish Knox has caught so far on one outting during his fishing life.

It is feeling a whole lot like summer.  Temperatures have been in the mid to upper 80s the past several days and we see more of the same for next week with some 90s scattered in for good measure.  Best chance for rain shows up next Thursday into Friday.  Little ways off….we’ll see.

No change in generation.  Four units still 24/7.  We are still eight feet above normal power pool for this time of the year.  The tailwater level is +/- 708′.

Trips out last Wednesday.  Jim took a fairly new fly fisher from the Branson area out and gave him lots of good instruction.  They had a very good day stripping the tiger tail and nymphing the red midge and/or hot hare’s ear nymph.  James took Clint from Colorado out for half a day.  Clint fished a lot when he lived in Colorado but never as many as they caught Wednesday.  It was the big ruby with the lightning bug dropper for them.

Friday, Stan was out with Jim, who is also a fairly new fly fisher.  He wanted to expand his knowledge of fly fishing and catch some fish!  Mission accomplished.  Jim had a good day on the big ruby with the lightning bug dropper, and stripping the holographic green crackleback.  Had so much fun he is out again today.  Jim had his regular, regular, David out for half a day.  Very good day for them.  Nice 22″ brown stripping the tiger tail.  Also caught several fish on the ruby midge and the hot hare’s ear nymph.

How about that!  No rain in the forecast for at least seven or eight days!  We won’t know how to act.  We do have some heat.  Looks like upper 80s to low 90s over the weekend.

Another pretty day.  Mid 80s today and lots of sunshine.   Chances for afternoon showers tomorrow and better chance for rain on Sunday morning.  After that, it looks pretty clear for several days with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.

Flood gates are closed.  Running four generators in the 9000 cfs range.
