Really Tough Day!
Weather continues to be cooler than normal for this time of the year. Highs in the 80s, plus lots of rain the past two days. Hopefully, it is moving out. Temperatures look like they are creeping into the low 90s by next weekend, and rain chances for the rest of the week are low.
Table Rock is almost at power pool. However, it will probably come up some over the next two days due to the rains we had yesterday and the day before. So, not certain what the generation pattern will be for this coming week.
Lisa – 7/12/21
Jeff and Lisa had just finished our fly fishing school so they went fishing with Carolyn on Monday. Fun day for both of them. Catching on the ruby 2 midge under the big ruby.
Tuesday was a whole different day. They had the water off early in the morning then started it up around 7:00 a.m. Don’t know if the fish were in a feeding frenzy when the water was off so they were full, or just confused when two units came on. At any rate, you really had to work hard to find a few fish. Dana had Eric and
Quincy – 7/13/21
his son, Quincy out for the morning. They landed a few fish on the eggstacy egg pattern. Carolyn’s couple, Jerry and Cathy beat the water and would catch a couple in one place on the P&P midge, a couple more somewhere else on the cerise San Juan worm. One or two more on the ruby 2 under the big ruby….and so their morning went.
Wednesday was another day! Cathy and Jerry were on the water again with Carolyn. Yes, they were willing to try again. Much better day and almost everything was on the ruby 2 under the big ruby. Dana and Jim had a group of guys out on a short afternoon trip. Good day for them on the ruby 2 midge. Gary had Ella out for a morning wade trip. A little difficult, but they found places where they could wade and she caught some fish, all on the holographic green crackleback.
Jim took KT and Lauri from Texas out on Thursday. Pretty good day on the KQ streamer or the ruby midge. Dana had John and his father, Ron, from Illinois on

the water. This was Ron’s first fly fishing trip and he caught on quickly. They were catching on the peach eggstacy egg pattern or a ruby 2 midge.
Friday, Darren took John and his daughter, Lauren, out for half a day. Somewhat slow, but they did catch some on the big ruby with a scud or ruby 2 dropper.
Jim and Dana had a group from Texas on the water. Dana took Jim and Luke. Luke was brand new and caught his first fish. They were

catching on the black copperhead midge, and a red or cerise San Juan worm. Jim took Brandon. He did not catch many fish, but did land a nice 25 inch rainbow on a ruby midge. He too, is new to fly fishing. What a way to start! Carolyn had two students from school
Missi – 7/17/21
out for learning the various presentation techniques, and they caught fish on the black copperhead midge under the big ruby. Best technique, however, was pulling a JQ streamer on a 4 ips sinking leader. Missi really liked this technique.
This morning started out great! Unfortunately, around 11:00 a.m., they turned on three units and fishing went south. Mark and Phil from Iowa, were out with Jim. They were catching on the JQ streamer. When the water came on, it trashed up the river so much you couldn’t keep your fly clean and the fish went south. Dana and his fisher, Jeremy, had the same experience. They were catching on the black copperhead and ruby 2 midges. Worked hard to catch one more fish after the generators came on!
